Story

Hema Malini and Rajesh Khanna, are in love and want to get married,

But Rajesh Khanna’s father is against this alliance. Despite opposition

from family, they marry, but Ajeet, Rajesh Khanna’s father refuses to

accept Hema Malini as his daughter-in-law. Suddenly Rajesh Khanna

meets with an accident and is killed. Pregnant Hema Malini is shattered,

no where go. Hema Malini gives birth to a baby boy and looks after him. 

She shifts to another place and gets works as a teacher.

Shammi Kapoor, a rich businessman, stays in same area. His daughter is

studying in same school, where Hema Malini is teacher.  Shammi Kapoor

stays with his mother (Achla Sachdev) and daughter (Baby Gauri). 

His wife (Simmi Garewal) died while giving birth to their daughter.

As Hema Malini’s Son and Shammi Kapoor’s daughter are in same school,

Hema Malini and Shammi Kapoor become friends and eventually decide

to marry.s But Achla Sachdev does not accept Hema Malini as daughter-in-law.

The twist in the story is a village girl Aruna Irani commits suicide.  The Villagers

feel she was in love with Shammi Kapoor. His rejection has forced her to commit

suicide.

In the end all falls into place and everyone lives happily thereafter.
