A GOOD SAMARITAN
Friends I have written a simple story, hope you will like it.
Every evening Sunil is running a Roadside Food Shop with Manish. They both stay in a small room.
They both hail from a village. However Manish is from a well-to-do family, but Mumbai’s attraction
has forced him to stay with Sunil and do the petty job. Sunil is from a poor family, he has a small
house in the village.
A young insane girl always used to roam in the street. Every evening they fed her the leftovers while
cleaning the shop. No one knew anything about the girl. She neither talked nor disturbed anyone,
only murmured something.
Suddenly the neighbors felt that the girl was pregnant. They felt Sunil could be the savage, who
ruined her life. They confronted him and beat him, but Sunil had only one answer, that he had
not done anything. They were to take him to the police. On the other hand, Manish is in a dilemma,
he confides with Sunil that he has abused the girl, but will not accept it, he wants to go back to Village,
as life at Roadside Food Shop is pathetic.
Now there is no other way for Sunil, but to accept the mistake and keep the girl in his room. He names
her Sakhi (Friend).In his care, the girl blooms like a flower. He takes her to the gynecologist.
The doctors tell him that the girl has not been insane since birth, but due to some shock or accident the brain
is damaged and with due care, she will be ok.

Sakhi is of great help to Sunil. She cleans the room, washes clothes, and cuts vegetables, but never talks.
With her help gradually the income increases. Sunil feels she has brought luck along.

The delivery day is very difficult for her, being young and insane, she gets jerks. The doctor tells Sunil
that the girl was too young and the jerks were not under control, they saved only her, not the baby.
Sakhi is unconscious. Sunil is sad for her.
When she wakes up from a long sleep, she does not recognize Sunil and the delivery as well. She
remembers her parents. She tells the doctor that her mother killed herself as well as her alcoholic
father, who was not good to her. Maybe due to the shock, she was insane.

The Doctor tells her that Sunil is her husband now and she has to live with him. Back home, the
girl always thinks about her parents and wastes time doing nothing. Sunil sympathizes with her
and feels all will be ok one day. Till then they will stay with each other like friends. He will
always take care of her.

जीना इसका नाम है
हर शाम सुनील मनीष के साथ रोड साइड फूड शॉप चलाता है। वे दोनों एक छोटे से कमरे में रहते हैं।
वे गाँव से आए हैं। हालाँकि, मनीष धनी परिवार से है, लेकिन मुंबई के आकर्षण ने उसे सुनील के साथ
रहने और काम करने के लिए मजबूर किया है। सुनील गरीब और अनाथ है, गाँव में उनका छोटा सा घर है।
एक जवान पागल लड़की हमेशा गली में घूमती रहती है। हर शाम वे दुकान की सफाई करते समय उसे बचा
हुआ खाना खिलाते है। किसी को नहीं पता कि यह लड़की कहां से आई है। वह कभी किसी से बात नहीं करती
है, और न ही किसी को परेशान करती है, केवल कुछ बड़बड़ाती रहती है।
अचानक पड़ोसियों को लगता है कि लड़की गर्भवती है। उन्हें सुनील पर शक है, पहले वे उससे पूछते हैं कि उसने
लड़की का जीवन क्यों नष्ट कर दिया है, वे उसे बुरी तरह से पीटते हैं, लेकिन सुनील के पास केवल एक ही जवाब है,
कि उसने कुछ नहीं किया है। वे उसे पुलिस थाने ले जाने की धमकी देते हैं। दूसरी तरफ मनीष दुविधा में है, वह
सुनील से कहता है कि उसने लड़की के साथ दुर्व्यवहार किया है, उसे डर लगता है, इसलिए वह अपनी गलती
स्वीकार नहीं करेगा, वह गांव वापस जाना चाहता है, क्योंकि रोड साइड फूड शॉप चलाना ठीक नहीं लग रहा है।
और वह सुनील को छोड़ गांव वापस चला जाता है।
अब सुनील के पास अपनी गलती मानने के अलावा और कोई रास्ता नहीं है, पड़ोसी उसे लड़की को पत्नी के
रूप में स्वीकार करने के लिए मजबूर करते हैं, वह उसका नाम सखी (दोस्त) रखता है। उसकी देखभाल में
लड़की एक फूल की तरह खिलती है।
वह उसे महिला चिकित्सक के पास ले जाता है। डॉक्टर उसे बताते हैं कि लड़की जन्म से पागल नहीं है, लेकिन
किसी सदमे या दुर्घटना के कारण मस्तिष्क क्षतिग्रस्त हो गया है और उचित देखभाल के साथ वह ठीक हो जाएगा।

सखी सुनील की बहुत मदद करती है। वह कमरे को साफ करती है, कपड़े धोती है, सब्जियां काटती है, लेकिन
कभी बात नहीं करती है। उसकी मदद से धीरे–धीरे आय में वृद्धि होती है। सुनील को लगता है कि सखी किस्मत
लेकर आई है।

उसके लिए प्रसव का दिन बहुत कठिन होता है,बहुत कम उम्र और पागल होने के कारण उसे झटके लगते हैं।
डॉक्टर सुनील को बताते हैं कि लड़की बहुत बहुत कम उम्र है, और झटके नियंत्रण में नहीं हैं, इसके कारण वे
नवजात को बचाने में असमर्थ हैं, सखी ठीक है लेकिन बेहोश है। सुनील उसके लिए दुखी होता है।
जब वह लंबी नींद से उठती है, तो वह सुनील को नहीं पहचान पाती है। उसे अपनी गर्भावस्था याद नहीं है,
वह अपने माता–पिता को याद करती है। वह डॉक्टर से कहती है कि उसकी माँ ने अपने को और शराबी पति
को भी मार डाला, उसका पिता माँ और उसके साथ अच्छा व्यवहार नहीं करता था। हो सकता है सदमे के कारण वह
पागल हो गई थी।
वो भूली दास्ताँ लो फिर याद आ गयी

डॉक्टर उसे बताता है कि सुनील उसका पति है और उसे उसके साथ रहना है। घर वापस आने के बाद सखी
हमेशा अपने माता–पिता के बारे में सोचती है और समय बर्बाद करती है। सुनील उसके साथ सहानुभूति
रखता है और लगता है कि एक दिन सब ठीक हो जाएगा। तब तक वे दोस्तों की तरह एक–दूसरे के साथ
रहेंगे। वह हमेशा उसकी देखभाल करेगा।
